If you get triggered by your family today…

Here are a few things for you to know:

You are not alone.

It’s okay to feel how you feel.

Your feelings are completely valid.

If others don’t get your feelings, it’s totally cool.

They are not supposed to understand your journey.

You are meant to live your own journey.

The thing I’ve learned about families is that our souls have chosen each other for the level of growth and lessons our souls came here on earth to learn. Therefore families are very, very karmic relationships.

Karma often comes into play when you cannot understand why you were “dealt” a certain hand when you’ve been a good person, tried your best, but still cannot get it right.

You may feel like no matter how hard you try, how much effort you put in, it’s still never enough. Others may not get your feelings about your family because they aren’t in your shoes. Forgive them. They don’t see things through your eyes because they aren’t supposed to.

It’s OK if it is difficult to be around your family, don’t beat yourself up about it. You feel how you feel, and it is what it is. Know that the sun will come up again tomorrow, and the day after and the day after, and you can choose how you want to spend each day afterwards.

If you DO find yourself getting triggered by family member snarky comments, see what is coming up for you.

Ask yourself why is this triggering me?

In what way do I believe what they are saying?

How can I work through that?

Sometimes it may make sense to step outside and get some fresh air to process some of the triggers you may experience.

No matter what, don’t forget to give back to yourself today and this weekend. Often when with family we feel obligated to do whatever everyone else is doing. This is where the internal resentment comes up. We don’t want that. Resentment ain’t fun!

Do YOU. Do what feels RIGHT. People may or may not like it, but your sanity is WELL worth it!

It isn’t easy to make choices that you feel may disappoint others, but it’s WELL worth choosing you, to SAVE your life and happiness.

It isn’t easy to make choices that you feel may disappoint others, but it’s worth it to save your life and happiness.

May you be blessed this holiday, may you be joyful, and may you find peace in each moment (or as many as you can =P).

Love you!
